Features » Alarm Toolkit

Alarms are a part of Data Service Toolkit with Reports and Validations.

When you purchase a Toolkit for Vista Data Vision no installation is needed, you will simply be issued a new Product key that will unlock the purchased Toolkits.

Alarms

Alarms are a very powerful feature that will simplify the operation of a network of dataloggers and ease the workload of the operators.

Alarms have twofold purpose:

  1. Alarms will monitor new data entered into the database, and send alarms as email and/or SMS Text Message to cellular phones if value of a variable cross pre-defined limits.
    • There are 4 limits LL, L, H and HH that user can define.
    • The alarm mechanism allows alarm messages caused by the inner limits L and H to be sent to one group of users and the alarm messages caused by the outer limits LL and HH to be sent to second group of users.  This can be useful so operational alarms are sent to users of data while maintenance alarms like low battery and out-of-range values are sent to maintenance group.
    • Reminder messages may be sent once a day to the personel on duty.
    • User groups may be split according to shift plan, so messages are sent to different recipients depending on time of day or day of week.
  2. For each dat file being monitored by db.robot.c, the Alarm Toolkit can be set to monitor the age of its latest data.  If dat file does not get updated (by Loggernet), an update notification email and/or SMS Text Message to cellular phone is sent to a group of recipients.

Notice the difference in the Alarm Toolkit between VDV Versions.

VDV Pro:  All functions of the Alarm Toolkits, including the Web page overview, configuration and acknowledge
VDV Standard and VDV Base:  The Alarm Toolkit functionality is limited to the Alarm Setup and Alarm Sending as part of the db.robot.c features
