Vista Data Vision has launched the new VDV version 4.0.  It is based on the same proven database applications as before and is just as easy to use.  However, the look and feel of the data is better than ever.  Now, users have access to time saving features when configuring graphs, like moving variables and graphs around, and new features for full control of colors and lines of graphs.

As for wind rose, it has become much more then a simple wind rose where wind speed is displayed as function of wind direction.  Now any variable can be displayed in a wind rose.  This give users opportunity to check from which direction it usually rains or the highest humidity comes, to name but a few possibilities of the new wind rose.

Also new are web maps with alarm indications.  Web maps are excellent tool to display great number of measured values on a map (or any graphical background).  New are background colors of each variable.  If an alarm is associated with a variable, the background color will change and show Yellow for L and H alarm situation, and Red for LL and HH alarms.  This greatly simplifies overview of complex data monitoring.

Operators running data services are pleased to learn that web-based users are now able to maintain their own alarm settings for each variable as well as organizing their email mailing list.  And the clients, whether they are fellow scientists, co-workers or paying customers, are pleased to learn that using a web page they can maintain access codes as well as create new access codes for co-workers without assistance from the operator. 

Those operators who need to monitor alarms from their field stations will welcome the new SCADA alarm feature, where sound will be activated from a monitoring PC.  All that is needed is to keep open the web page for alarms and when there is an alarm, a siren will sound.  Web based user will even be able to acknowledge the alarm and silence the alarm siren.  The alarm handling is based on the access rights of each user.

All in all, the new VDV version 4.0 give data service provider’s outstanding tools to serve their clients better.
