The following graph shows Particle Pollution in the neighborhood of Reykjavik during New Year’s Eve. Icelanders typically celebrate New Year’s with a lot of fireworks. The PM10 pollution this year reached 2971 μg/m3 which is very high compared to its highest level last year which was 1379 μg/m3 . Both levels are extremely high compared to the air quality safe standard of 50 μg/m3. The higher pollution levels this year were due to calmer winds.
