UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SANTA BARBARA
Geography Department
Innovative Datasets for Environmental Analysis by Students (IDEAS)

From rather simple origins, the Department of Geography at the University of California Santa Barbara has risen from a simple program, teaching geography to teachers, to one of the foremost graduate and research institutions in the discipline in the United States.

Vista Data Vision provides an excellent interface for undergraduate students to query and analyze local meteorological data as part of their classes. The user interface is flexible, powerful, and intuitive and has greatly benefited the learning process. It engages students and allows them to pursue higher level questions and synthesis since they are not struggling with raw database queries nor waiting for the data to be updated manually. In particular, the ability to filter the data by start and end times, to scroll through the data, and to download it as a text file were used heavily. We found that Vista Data Vision easily paid for itself many times over in terms of saved labor and it truly is a superior product.

SOARS - System Operation and Analysis at Remote Sites

SOARS (System Operation and Analysis at Remote Sites) was established in 2006 to improve data collection at U.S. Department of Energy Office of Legacy Management (LM) sites. The backbone of SOARS is the Vista Data Vision (VDV) post-processing software that automatically plots data for immediate use by LM project personnel across the country.

SOARS stations have been installed at 16 LM sites in 9 states. SOARS greatly improves the ability to diagnose problems and make timely repairs. SOARS is powered us0ing 65 solar panels and 26 connections to line power. The SOARS system currently (March 2009) includes 91 dataloggers, 85 radios, 461 instruments (measuring flow rate, water level, in-line pressure, pH, oxidation-reduction potential, conductivity, turbidity, unsaturated-zone moisture, wind speed and direction, relative humidity, solar radiation, rainfall, and water infiltration rate), 13 cell modems and 6 land lines. About 150,000 data values are transmitted daily.

VDV seamlessly plots these data and makes calculations that allow rapid assessment and interpretation of site conditions. VDV is the perfect software package to meet the needs of the LM program.

USA Army Aberdeen Test Center
Atmospheric Effects Team

Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB), operating under the guidance of Department of Defense (DoD) Directive 3200.11 and is a national asset with the mission to primarily support DoD test and evaluation (T&E) requirements. ATC also conducts testing for federal, state and local governments, academia, private industry, and foreign governments.

Your product has worked very well and trouble free. Its been an excellent off the shelf product and provided a quick solution being compatible with Campbell Scientific Dataloggers. It continues to work very efficiently and wel.

New Jersey Meadowlands
I have been working with Vista for only a few months now, and I have found that it is very easy to use. Most of the program is self-explanatory which make posting the data a lot easier. If there is an issue with the software, the representatives for Vista are very helpful and detailed with their answers.

Scott Technical Instruments
Vista Data Vision offered a way for the company to streamline it’s data delivery services, bringing them all into one database and allowing customers to access the data via a web interface. This would both reduce staff time, as well as improve the service to the customer.

Department of Clinical Microbiology, Landspitali
The Department of Clinical Microbiology at Landspitali has over 50 temperature and CO2 measuring points which need to be monitored and recorded. Vista Data Vision monitores and stores these measurements and has already paid for it self in saved staff time. The system has as well increased the quality of our research and increased the safety of our stock and valuable strain collection by sending out alarms when values are outside the limits.

VDV is a great and quite simple to use software to publish our data from Campbell Scientific dataloggers on the internet.
Once VDV is installed and running with the first logger, it really takes only a couple of hours to add another datalogger. This is great!

Seattle Department of Transportation
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is responsible for evaluating and maintaining 149 bridges in the City of Seattle.  Thirty four of these structures are 70 years old or older with an average age of all bridges being 54 years old. Because of visible degradation induced by earthquakes along with age-related and load rating considerations, SDOT has implemented an electronic monitoring program with data feedback to a central location on several of their bridges. This program is exactly what I have been searching for.
